What is TechCheck?

University of Rochester’s Event and Classroom Management (ECM) is in charge of fixing technology in rooms throughout River Campus. The department gets flooded with very simple requests that many times take seconds to fix. Even though this fix happens quickly when the technician arrives at the classroom, the class time wasted from the call, travel time, and troubleshooting can easily disrupt a class. Simple technology issues can delay learning, waste the time of professors, students, and workers, and make the professor feel incompetent before lecture.

TechCheck is an Augmented Reality app that is used to troubleshoot basic technology issues in the classroom. Professors, students, and workers can point their phones at classroom technology to reveal setup steps and highlight problematic technological components.

This app will enable you to easily find help for common tech related problems without having to wait for technician support to travel to the classroom, both saving time and eliminating distractions. As an additional bonus, professors can preserve their pride by retaining the ability to “figure it out” themselves, without having to call for outside assistance.
