User Scenario

Our professor shows up to class and finds his computer is not working. He wants to get class on track as soon as possible, so he pulls out his phone and opens the TechCheck app. Here he enters his room information and allows the app to use the camera. The app is able to identify that the cord on the floor needs to be plugged into both the wall and the computer, so it highlights these areas using VR on the phone. With this, instructions pop-up on the phone so the professor can follow them. Once he follows them, the technology works and the professor is happy. Class is then able to be continued.

Scenario 1

Users begin by opening the app. They then select the room that they are currently in. This allows a list of the technology that is in that room to pop up. The user can then choose the technology they are having an issue with. Here this issue is with a computer. Then they go to the next page. On the second page, the user can select from a list of common issues with the technology they are dealing with. In this scenario, they are dealing with file transfer issues. Once everything is selected the app loads the scanning page. It then scans the surroundings and provides instructions that are aided by VR visuals for certain objects and where they are meant to go. In the scenario, the visuals highlight a cord, the locations it is meant to be plugged into, and a third object to plug in. After a step is completed the next instruction moves to the top. Once all instructions are complete a green check mark appears. However, the ECM phone number is still at the top in case the user needs more help.

Scenario 2

Users begin by opening the app. They then select the room that they are currently in. This allows a list of the technology that is in that room to pop up. The user can then choose the technology they are having an issue with. Here this issue is on a computer. Then they go to the next page. On the second page, the user can select from a list of common issues with the technology they are dealing with. In this scenario, they are dealing with a sound output error message on the computer’s screen. Once everything is selected the app loads the scanning page. It then scans the computer screen and provides instructions that are aided by VR visuals for certain screen buttons and where the user should click. In this scenario, the VR highlights the settings button, a section in settings, and a drop down button to select an output. After a step is completed the next instruction moves to the top. Once all instructions are complete a green check mark appears. However, the ECM phone number is still at the top in case the user needs more help.
